David and Chip — Seasons of Giving

Thanks to Seasons of Giving two brothers from Grand Rapids, MI, nine-year old David and seven-year old Chip, recently received a ThermoSpas Concord Spa that is big enough for their entire family yet still fits in their backyard!  David and Chip both suffer from Hunter Syndrome, an MPS disorder that produces many physical and neurological problems.  The most painful of these problems is muscle and joint stiffness.

David and Chip had taken water exercise classes in the past and they were hooked immediately!  The water exercise was successful in soothing the brothers’ stiff and sore muscle and joints and allowed them to move about with less pain.  Unfortunately, their insurance would not continue to cover this treatment and the benefits faded.  But today, thanks to ThermoSpas donation, David and Chip are able to experience the benefits of warm water therapy every day right in their own backyard.  Rose, a pediatric occupational therapist who works with Chip & David, contacted ThermoSpas in hopes of getting the boys’ wish for more warm water therapy granted.  Rose said, “As a pediatric occupational therapist, I am in contact with many children who would benefit from the use of heat modality for muscle relaxation, joint relaxation, joint laxity, antigravity strengthening and pain relief.  No family would benefit more than Chip & David’s family to give the chance for longer, pain-reduced quality of lives.”

We’re so happy that David and Chip are enjoying their Concord Spa!  We hope they continue experiencing the benefits of warm water therapy.  If you know a child with a life-threatening illness who may benefit from warm water therapy fill out an application at ThermoSpas.com!
